Question by nickie: Question about antibiotics for acne and birth control?
If I take the antibiotic I’m using that clears my acne while I’m on birth control, and don’t have sex for the first few months, then stop taking the antibiotic, will my face still be clear since birth control helps with acne also? (like yaz)? then i can have sex while on birth control and not worry about the antibiotic decreasing the effectiveness.

yes, probably but when you go into the doctor to get your antibiotic (or birth control) ask her. All birth control (the pill) will clear up acne.

I’m 15 years old. I know acne is common for someone my age, but all the people i go to school with have skin like people right out of a teen soap opera. my acne isnt like god awful or anything but it brings me more than enough embarresment. Any advice? I use stuff like oxy, and ive used clean and clear. what should i do?

Gentle face washing every two times a day makes a lot of difference than washing frequently.
Adult acne does occur from time to time and studies show that adult acne affects more women than men. About 25% of adult men experience adult acne and 50% of adult women. Most often women experience this when their menstrual cycle is coming or when they are at stress. Since it can’t be cured, there are treatments for adult acne today that are quite effective.
There are acne skin care ingredients that you can buy over the counter like salicylic acid, sulfur and benzoyl peroxide. They are quite effective although theses ingredients are quite harsh to some and may prefer natural ingredients.
It can also be treated through “acne surgery” done with your doctor or when you do at home its called “squeezing pimples”. It gets fast result but when you squeeze pimples, it’s more likely to develop infection and leave a scar. So it is better to leave it all in the hands of your doctor. They know what they do and you will be given the right medicines to take or even ointments to apply to avoid infection and scarring.
You can also check online for skin care advices and what product that best works. The problem now is that the market is overloaded with lots of acne skin care products that claims to cure acne problem. It is indeed hard to find the right product to trust.
Treatments to acne problems really depend on what type of acne you have. To be safe, visit your dermatologist for they can give you trusted advice on what to do and they can give you a sample where you can give it a try and see if the treatment works for you. That way you don’t have to waste money on buying products that don’t work for you at all.
