Precautions And Treatment For Acne Prone Skin

Precautions And Treatment For Acne Prone Skin
Acne is the most common of all the skin problems. Eighty percent of the population, men and women suffer from this problem. In many cases the acne might break out and then disappear on its own but in other cases it might need some special treatment. You might have seen people avoiding parties or social hangouts when they have acne. They actually shy away from facing colleagues and friends.

Physiology:

The skin pores which have a sebaceous gland at their roots act as triggers for breakouts. The number of these pores is maximum around the nose, neck, cheeks and chin. Thus, these areas are more prone to breakouts. These sebaceous glands in their normal functioning have a role in secreting some amount of sebum. Due to some factors ( puberty, hormonal imbalance, improper diet etc) the secretion from these glands might get increased and attract microbes causing infections which generally take form of redness followed by pimples or breakouts.

Causes of acne:

There is no specific reason and no specific age for the occurrence of this skin problem but the young adults during their puberty are said to get affected the most. During this phase the secretion of androgen increases which enhances the secretion of sebum and thus leads to frequent breakouts. Adults who have crossed this age might also complaint of this problem at some time. Acne results from some kind of imbalance in the normal skin physiology. This imbalance might result from lifestyle changes, improper eating habits, stress, unhygienic surroundings, etc. Thus, there is no one single reason for these break outs. Despite of the cause these acne need to be treated on time and in a proper manner or else they would result into scars which might be difficult to cure.

Some tips to keep avoid the break outs:

• Maintain good hygiene – washing the prone or affected area with lukewarm water and gentle face wash, several times a day is suggested.

• Some people are said to have acne with the consumption of certain kinds of food (allergic reaction). Such food items must be noted and henceforth avoided.

• Apart from the daily routine of cleaning your skin properly one must also make a point to exercise daily. This helps boost the body’s immunity and self cleansing system.

• Special attention must be paid to avoid infections in rainy seasons and in summers when bacteria are maximum in number in the atmosphere and their chances of clinging on to the skin are also maximum due to sweat and humidity.

• You should include loads of water and fresh fruit juices in your diet as they help flush out toxins from the body.

• Emotional stress has been found to be a major cause of acne. Thus one must always try to live a stress free life. Enjoy and make the most of your life.

• Once a break out has occurred never scratch the area with nails or scrub. It must be washed with some anti-acneic gel or soap, and the area must be kept dry and clean. The acne will subside on its own within 2 or 3 days.

• If you have a sensitive skin, avoid using harsh chemical based products as they can worsen the condition.

• Acne is generally associated with oily skin, thus prefer using water based cosmetic and skin care products.

Natural Remedies For Acne Prone Skin

Natural Remedies For Acne Prone Skin

It can be dealing with acne during your teen years or even later on when you have a breakout as an adult. This sort of condition can be extremely embarrassing and problematic and it can actually cause long-term damage to your skin. Nevertheless, here are some powerful tips to reduce your chances of developing an even worse case of acne.

You must have heard of many times about the benefits of tomatoes and cucumber for your face be it eaten or applied on your face. Tomatoes are an antioxidant and help in preventing skin damage. Cucumber is cooling and helps in soothing irritated or inflammed skin. Both of them are good in tightening the pores of the skin just like the icing method.

Try washing your face at least three times a day since this will reduce your number of acne breakouts. Nevertheless, just use your hands to wash your face instead of using a rough cloth. If you over scrub your face, you can actually irritate the skin where the acne is located and this could cause some of the sores to rupture.

The majority of these diets consist of organic and fresh foods, and almost all include drinking large quantities of fruit, vegetables, and water. Some of the foods that are usually avoided in these diets include sugar and high fat foods (especially dairy), fried foods, and refined carbohydrates.

Fenugreek: Prepare paste of fenugreek. It is said that this is an effective way to take care of your acne.

Garlic: Eat 3 seeds of garlic minimum everyday and rub the affected skin with raw garlic as often as you can every day.

Another in the list of natural acne cures is using apple cider vinegar. This acidic solution helps in curing acne by fighting against bacteria, dissolving excess oil from skin pores and also, by maintaining the skin pH. As far as apple cider vinegar acne treatment is concerned, one can add dilute form in the diet or apply directly to skin.

Besides getting plenty of rest and keeping stress and tension at a minimum, if you have acne, protecting your skin from the ravages of the sun and its ultraviolet (UV) rays should also be at the top of your list of priorities. And, contrary to some popular belief, a sunburn that causes peeling skin is not an effective, or even safe, way of treating acne. Exposure to UV rays increases your risk of skin cancer, hastens the aging process, and depletes the skin of much needed moisture.

My skin is acne prone?

Question by Lily: My skin is acne prone?
I have tried everything, Biore, Neutrogena, Clean&Clear, even specialty name brands. Oh, and ProActiv made me breakout and rash…so what else works? I am 23, and my body went through all those wonderful changes when I had my daughter, so I think it’s still out of whack. My diet is healthy, I drink no soda, the occasional coffee, and some juice. My skin is breaking out like a hormonal 16-year-old. This is terrible! It’s embarrassing, but also inconvenient since I’m getting married in 5 months!

Anyone know anything that works for sure? I don’t want to buy something if it’s crap, and I don’t want to waste time freaking my skin out. I’ve heard clay facial masks are really good–any experiences? Thanks!

Toothpaste works awesome. It drys out pimples and zits only if you have a few. If you have it all over your face Cetaphil works!

How should I treat my sensitive/acne prone skin?

Question by : How should I treat my sensitive/acne prone skin?
Backround info;
Oily
Sensitive
Acne Prone
Make up user
My mom & dad both had acne troubles in their teen years.

I’ve used many many many products for my face. From acne treatments to facials and so on. I’m 15 right now and I’m guessing since I’m in my teen years that my hormones are everywhere. But one question.. How is it possible to have such horrible skin while someone your age has flawless skin? I used to love my skin, but now its as valuable as garbage. I’m probably over exaggerating, but its true.. My routine right now isn’t so good such as.. I don’t care for what I eat, I don’t exercise, and i touch my face a lot. But before I used to be on a well balanced diet, good amount of exercise and i drank plenty of water too, but there wasn’t any change.. Is there anything you guys recommend I do?
Thanks!~
Oh also.. I don’t get much sleep around the corner as much as i have before & i’m not very cautious of how i eat. maybe thats a cause as well?

I started having horrible acne at the age of 12 and my parents said they had bad acne when they were in their teens too. I think I got a double wammy of bad skin genes, anyways I thought it would go away when I got older and it didn’t, I just kept getting acne. I tried anything and everything. I even started Tanning, which is really bad for your skin (so don’t do it). It wasn’t untill about a year ago that my husband gave the the Gift of Skin ID. I ordered it and started using it and my acne went away! It sounds like you have very similar skin to what I have, except I didn’t usually use make up because it made me break out more. Skin ID is formulated for you type of skin, you answer some questions and they give you the right products to clear your skin up. It Costs about $ 50 for two months worth, but if you have wanted clear skin your whole life like me, it is totally worth it.

Oh and what you eat isn’t really a factor in your skin, it was proven a long time ago. What is a factor is you touching your face if you have food on your hands, like something greasy and you touch your face, you will break out. I have to say I am horrible about touching my face, and the Skin ID has made my acne go away still. But you gotta try and stop touching, although if you are like me, you don’t realize you are doing it untill you are doing it.

How can acne prone skin be treated from the inside out?

Question by Charlie: How can acne prone skin be treated from the inside out?
My sister is 27 years old. For as long as I can remember she has always had problems with acne. She has tried everything from Maderma, Neutrogena, Noxzema, Clinique, Pro Activ, etc., etc. She has even consulted a dermatologists who basically states to her everytime there is no cure for acne. This I know is indeed true. It is basically something you either grow out of or suffer with for the rest of your life. It really is taking a toll on here emotionally and I just need to know what could she do. She has even changed her diet so I know it’s not her food intact that is damaging her skin and making her so prone to these constant break-outs. So what are her options. What pills, cream or even remedy that she could either take or use on a daily basis to diminish the appearance of her acne?

Thank You for any advice given!

Acne prone skin…What should I use?

Question by randomgirl17: Acne prone skin…What should I use?
So…I have fair skin (combination, I do believe) that is also acne-prone. I’m trying to find products that combat that. I’ve recently started using Cetaphil cleanser and moisturizer and they work just fine, but I was hoping to find something that I can use in conjunction with those two to help acne. Namely, I would like a product that is 1) Not benzoyl peroxide and 2) Not expensive. I’ve heard that salicylic acid works wonders for some people. However, I’ve tried the a salicylic acid cleanser and although it was a good product, I don’t think salicylic acid really works well for me. Any help is greatly appreciated.
P.S. I’m eating a healthy diet and get a decent amount of exercise, so that’s kinda crossed of the list of things to do for better skin.

Acne prone skin, dry, need products.. not sure what to get?

Question by Vanity99: Acne prone skin, dry, need products.. not sure what to get?
For most of my life, I’ve fought the battle for clean skin. The typical salicylic acid products burn my skin, even causing peeling at times. I just use plain water because of how sensitive my skin actually is… sometimes with a little bit of anti bacterial soap.

I break out when I use most moisturizers that I have tried. This really sucks because I have dry skin in most areas. Sometimes it is itchy. The other irritating thing is that my skin is slightly oily as well, at times. (Combination skin? Not sure, seems more dry than oily, but who knows.)

I am so weary of worrying about always breaking out when I apply makeup (trying to cover the redness)… and tired of worrying about which products are going to hurt my skin.

After years of using water and spot care (while occasionally trying something else), I need help! I’m tired of just giving in and letting my skin win icon biggrin Acne prone skin, dry, need products.. not sure what to get? . Can anyone make some good recommendations for products that are good for ultra sensitive skin which is acne prone and quite dry (though oily in some places?). I’d like a regular skin regimen.

I used to go to a dermatologist as a kid, but haven’t been in years. That was back in the days of antibiotics being given out like candy. When I was in the hospital a couple of years ago, I was given a ton of medicine and something cleared up my skin. No idea what it was. It looked great! It could also have been an allergen removal in my diet..

BTW, I normally eat healthy food and drink tons of water, so I don’t think diet is a factor. On the occasion I eat something fried, I can tell the difference.

If you have any tips or products, they would be welcomed. Also open to holistic ideas.

TY in advance.
